Santa Monica College (SMC) is offering an 8 week Secure Server
Installation and Administration class. This instructor also teaches a
very similar course out of UCLA Extension ... but why pay over $400
when within 8 weeks you have have all that knowledge for a fraction
of the price?!
The class starts April 21 and runs through Jun 09 and is taught
as a hybrid course, i.e., with both online and a regular class
setting components. The class component is scheduled for Saturday
from 9am-12noon.
If you're not already an student at SMC, then you'll need to become
one by completing the application (link below). When the application
is finalized and you get a student ID then you can enroll in the
class. The total cost for the class is approximately $90 ($20/per
unit plus about $30 for school fees). Not to worry about a parking
decal as there are no restrictions for Saturday parking on campus.
This is a new class and not many people have signed up and it is thus
in danger of being cancelled. If you even *think* you might be
interested please enroll in the course ... and if you change
your mind you can drop with a full refund. The listed prerequisite is
CS70, but prereqs are not checked when enrolling. CS70
covered networking, computer ports, etc. and if you're not
comfortable with that topic now, you will be by the time this class is
over :)
Feel free to email if any questions.
