Contract MySQL Specialist, LA (or anywhere)
These are notes from the client to me.
We're not a huge company so I'd rather pay closer to $60 per hour than $120.
But my foremost concern is that we get a DBA who lives, eats, and breaths
MySQL, and is familiar with integrating it in a LAMP world.
Ideally someone who is part of that MySQL community, gets their jollies from
optimizing it, knows how hardware fits in the mix, spends their free time
answering questions in MySQL related blogs, goes to monthly user group
meetings for MySQL-- you get the idea.  So I guess the range you've given me
is fine, but if I'm going to pay the high end, I would want someone
exceptional (I'd actually prefer that).
My two developers on staff are pretty good lamp generalists, and pretty good
at MySQL now, so we need someone much better than them.  You can search
anywhere in the US, just help me qualify them.  I'd prefer local, but we may
get more for our money elsewhere. I'd prefer to interact during business
hours, but for the right guy we can interact on weekends and evenings.
It may be only a couple of hours.  After the initial conversation with the
consultant we can determine how much more time we'd need.
