I wanted to post this earlier, but was felled by a violent head cold the
day after SCALE. :(
First, kudos to the LinuxChix Los Angeles volunteers, Michelle, Lisa,
and Betty who made the LinuxChix booth at SCALE a fun and vibrant area
to visit. We had a lot of activity, the new black/silver LinuxChixLA
T-shirts, O'Reilly books to raffle, LiveLAMP presentation and CDs, and
just a crush of people interested people with which to talk.
SCALE just flat out rocked this year ... I can't wait until next year :)
Below are few highlights ... I'll post more, and some in more detail,
later in the week.
1)
T-shirt sales, book raffle, and LiveLAMP CD's totaled $311, less SCALE
expenses for parking, xeroxing, etc., and the net is $221. Yup! There
are some plans for this bounty. Look for more information on the list.
2)
Met an Associate Dean at DeVry who is involved with the Girl Scout's
Girls Go Tech program (http://www.girlsgotech.org/) as a working women
in technology panelist. She is interested in talking with any of our
members who would like to get involved.
3)
Next LinuxChix LA meeting topic presentation was set, tho the time is
still in flux. Our own Lisa will be taking us through MadWiFi
installation. The exact time/day will be set when I get my new laptop
sometime in March.
