Looking for a head count for Sunday's meeting.
Since this is a hands-on study group we'd like to have as many terminals
available as there are people attending. If you want to work on your
laptop, that's fine too as we'll be working with the Knoppix LiveCD ...
learning Linux Administration is a safe sandbox :)
So if you're planning on coming, please rsvp to the list, email me
directly, or call Betty at (323) 734-0176
Thanks!
/SMichelle

Want to learn more about Linux Administration? Interested in a group
study?
The next four meetings of LinuxChix LA will focus on the Linux
Professional Institute (LPI) level 1 certification skills. We will be
using the tutorial developed by Daniel Robbins and available through the
IBM developerworks site.
Hands on learning is the best way to learn Linux, so you are welcome to
bring your laptop, but we are planning of several computer workstations
to be available and the Knoppix LiveCD will be the working distro for
the hands-on exercises. A Knoppix LiveCD is available for you to take
home so you can continue the tutorial lesson(s) on your home computer.
The Knoppix LiveCD will be used as the learning environment which will
provide a safe playground in which to explore tutorial topics.
There are four separate tutorials in the level 1 group. The subjects
covered are:
* Linux Fundamentals
* Basic Administration
* Intermediate Administration
* Advanced Administration
One tutorial per month is planned with the first tutorial on Linux
Fundamentals on Feb. 27 starting at 1:00pm. The remaining tutorials will
be held on the fourth Sunday of each month at the same time and place.
The location is near USC just east of Normandie on Jefferson.
