Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
Keeping with the past schedule of meeting every 4th Sunday, the next
LinuxChixLA meeting will be on Sunday, Jan. 25. There is no topic set
yet, so I'd like to get an idea of interests for potential discussion.
Something I'm interested in is a description of the 'configure - make -
make install' method of software installation, and the
differences/similarities to either an rpm and/or deb method of software
installation. Of course, I know nothing about this topic myself so I'd
need to hunt down and capture a speaker ... perhaps we can entice
him/her with a free lunch :)
I'd also be interested in a round table (or at least over a round pizza
:) discussion on what the LinuxChixLA group members want/need/desire
with respect to Linux and/or computing in general. How can we as
LinuxChixLA best support our membership?
Yep, the more I'm thinking about it the more I'm leaning toward option
2, the round pizza discussion. Tho I'm very open to suggestions -- if
you 1) have another topic idea and/or 2) definitely want pizza and/or 3)
would prefer to have a more formal discussion on software installation
for the January meeting, feel free to post to the list.
See you at the next meeting!
/Sharon
